Much has been written regarding the death of Osama bin Laden. It is clear that this home invasion murder was not prescribed by international law. For example, Nazi war criminals were tried at Nuremburg. They were not just summarily executed. There seems to have been no effort to bring bin Laden to trial in any court. Thus, it seems that the home invasion murder of Osama bin Laden was about vengeance, not justice. Capturing or killing bin Laden was the reason professed by the Bush administration for the invasion and occupation of Afghanistan by the United States. Bush wanted bin Laden, "Dead or alive." With the murder of bin Laden, that "reason" for the U.S. occupation of Afghanistan no longer exists. It is long past time to end those wars. On May 13, 2011, the American Civil Liberties Union and the ACLU of Massachusetts filed a lawsuit in federal court challenging the suspicionless search and seizure of electronics and personal data belonging to David House, a computer programmer and U.S. citizen who lives in Cambridge, Mass. The lawsuit charges that the government targeted Mr. House solely on the basis of his lawful association with the Bradley Manning Support Network when it seized Mr. House's laptop, USB drive and camera, and proceeded to copy and possibly disseminate their contents.

Olivia Chow, a member of the Canadian Parliament from Toronto, is married to Jack Layton, the leader of the New Democratic Party (NDP), which nearly tripled its seats in Canada's Parliament in this week’s elections. For the first time, the NDP achieved the status of the official opposition party. The NDP has been the Canadian political party that has been the strongest and most consistent supporter of U.S. war resisters seeking sanctuary there (photo right: Rodney Watson, sanctuary seeker). Our friends in Canada are hoping that this will mitigate the increased strength of the Conservative party which achieved a majority government for the first time. Here is MP Olivia Chow's post-election statement of support for U.S. Iraq War resisters in Canada.

Hundreds of thousands of individuals globally celebrate today the confirmation that their efforts to end the torturous pre-trial confinement conditions inflicted upon US Army PFC Bradley Manning have been successful. Manning’s lead defense attorney, David E. Coombs of Rhode Island, has personally verified that Manning is indeed being held in Medium Custody confinement at the Joint Regional Corrections Facility (JRCF) at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, as claimed by the Army last week.

Accused WikiLeaks whistle-blower becomes focus of breakfast with President Barack Obama
By the Bradley Manning Support Network. April 21, 2011
This morning President Obama met with 150 donors for his 2012 reelection campaign over breakfast at the St. Regis Hotel in San Francisco, California. However, the event turned interesting when nearly two dozen of his contributors pressed the president in song on the unjust confinement and tortuous treatment of alleged WikiLeaks whistle-blower US Army intelligence analyst PFC Bradley Manning. As the President spoke of the creative organizing that won him the 2008 election, over 10% of the attendees held up “Free Bradley Manning” signs and launched into a song entitled “Where’s our change?” As Secret Services agents attempted to grab the signs, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, California Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, and President Obama looked on. (Video)
