Kyle Snyder continues to remain AWOL from the U.S. Army. Calls to Ft. Leonard Wood from Snyder's attorney, Jim Fennerty, continue to go unanswered. Yet, at the risk of arrest, Kyle continues to publicly speak out against the war in Iraq.

Urgent Action: Demand that the Army discharge Kyle Snyder with No Punishment! PDF Print E-mail

ImageKyle Snyder, Iraq veteran and war resister, returned from Canada to turn himself in to Army authorities on October 31, 2006 at Fort Knox. Now he is once again AWOL after officials at Ft. Knox have reneged on a previous verbal agreement with his attorney, Jim Fennerty, to discharge Kyle. His former unit, the 94th Engineers, now based at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, is slated to return to Iraq in January for the 3rd time. The Army wants Kyle to return to that unit, and will not say what they will do when he does. Military authorities at Ft. Leonard Wood have not yet returned numerous calls from Snyder's attorney, Jim Fennerty, of Chicago.

NEW ORLEANS -- A U.S. soldier who fled to Canada rather than return to Iraq spent Thanksgiving week gutting houses flooded more than a year ago by Hurricane Katrina.

"There are so many engineering units of the U.S. military -- they should be here and not Iraq," Pvt. Kyle Snyder, 23, of Colorado Springs, Colo., said yesterday. He was among two dozen volunteers from Iraq Veterans Against the War spending the week in New Orleans, gutting veterans' and musicians' houses destroyed by Hurricane Katrina on Aug. 29, 2005.

“At the end of the day, you have to ask yourself if this is something you can live with. It’s your life and the choice is ultimately yours to make. I said NO and I will never regret it.”-Kyle Snyder

Kyle Snyder turned himself  in to Army authorities at Fort Knox, KY, Tuesday, October 31. Before turning himself in he held a press conference at 10am in nearby Louisville at Central Presbyterian Church where he continued to speak out against the war. Initial reports suggest that the Army may be reneging on a previously arranged deal with Snyders attorney, Jim Fennerty, to discharge him and may send him back to his unit!
